On September 29, Vistra announced it reached a final investment decision to build two new advanced natural gas power units at its Permian Basin Power Plant. Together the new units will bring 860 MW to the Texas grid, more than tripling the site’s current capacity from 325 MW to 1,185 MW. This investment is part of the $1 billion worth of potential capital additions in ERCOT generation capacity that Vistra identified in 2024. Upon completion, Vistra will have invested nearly $2 billion and added approximately 3,100 MW of new generation capacity in Texas since 2020.
